Flexor digiti minimi brevis

Anatomy

Origin:
Hook of the hamate and the ulnar border of the flexor retinaculum.

Insertion:
Ulnar aspect of the base of the proximal phalanx of the little finger.

Key Relations:
-Is one of the muscles of the hypothenar eminence of the hand.
-Abductor digiti minimi lies on its lateral side and the two muscels are separated at their origin by the course of the ulnar nerve and artery.

Functions

-Flexion of the little finger at the metacarpophalangeal joint.
-Also assists with opposition of the little finger.

Supply

Nerve Supply:
Deep branch of the ulnar nerve (C8, T1).

Blood supply:
Deep palmar branch of the ulnar artery.
