Anatomy

Origin:
Plantar surface of the base of the 5th metatarsal and sheath of adjacent fibularis longus tendon.

Insertion:
Base of the 5th proximal phalanx.

Key Relations:
Runs along the lateral aspect of the foot.

Functions

Flexes the 5th toe at metatarsophalangeal joint.

Supply

Nerve supply:
Superficial branch of the lateral plantar nerve (S2, S3).

Blood supply:
Dorsalis pedis artery (continuation of anterior tibial artery).
