Profunda brachii (deep brachial) artery

Profunda brachii (deep brachial) artery

Anatomy

Course
Branches from the brachial artery about a third of the way along the humerus. It enters the posterior compartment of the arm with the radial nerve, passing through the space made by the lateral margin of long head of the triceps, the inferior margin of teres major and the shaft of the humerus. It travels towards the lateral side of the humerus in the radial groove, next to the bone and branches here into the radial and middle collateral arteries.

Supply

Supplies the muscles in the posterior compartment of the arm and contributes to the supply of the elbow joint and forearm via its branches.
